7 Takeaways from the Future of AI Panel
7 Takeaways from the Future of AI PanelS 🤖💻
AI is the talk around town! It’s starting to come into every aspect of our lives…so how do we use it responsibly? How do we ensure we are learning from AI and not letting us cheat in school? I went to a tech start up panel on the future of AI! (even though I’m not a tech start up but shhhh don’t tell 🤫)
As we heard from industry leaders like representatives from Web Summit and InCrowd.AI, here are 7 takeaways I had.
1.We’re working for AI to NOT replace humans
At least everyone at the event I attended talked about not replacing humans. They are working on AI to replace the boring parts of our jobs so we can focus on the parts we do like. While this may not be everyone’s goal, I think this is the majority!
2. Human connection will never be replaced
Human connection will never leave. Even as the room focussed on AI, one of the founders got $1M in funding from sources that started with casual conversations. There will always be a place for connection (Just like Large Tutoring!).
3.AI is changing everyday
There are entire newsletters that focus on the daily changes to AI (Rundown AI was their example). It’s difficult to keep a pulse on everything, so it’s okay to be overwhelmed. Do your best and focus on the most popular, or if you want to be really in tune, follow the Rundown AI newsletter.
4.For start ups, focus on the end-user experience
AI is changing everyday, but that doesn’t mean your business has to. If you want to start an AI business, don’t try to use the trendy innovations. Focus on your end-user. What problem of theirs can you solve? That’s how you make a good product.
5.There’s still a lot of work needed for AI detection software
I asked a question specifically about AI detection software. In school, some students aren’t using AI to learn faster, they’re using it to cheat. AI detection is a hot topic that schools and teachers are looking into. The panel didn’t know where this sector would go, but insisted AI can be used to help learning if we focus on the right goals.
6.Be a person who knows AI tools
If you’re wanting to be employable, start using AI tools to improve workflows. They used to say “find someone who knows how to Google.” Now they’re saying “find someone savvy enough who knows how to use AI to speed up their job.” You don’t have to be a tech expert (I’m not), but it got me thinking of what AI tools I might want to use.
7.Young People can become AI Experts too
The founder of League of Innovators (LOI), often talks about the advantages young people have. They are learning new trends at the same speed experienced veterans are, so they have a lot of opportunity to become experts in new fields. That means to all our students reading this, you might become the next AI tech titan!
While change is scary and AI is here to stay, remember, we’re all in this together and we’re all learning 💚
